IOM - The Proteus (Final version)

Build kits for THE Proteus (Final version) IOM hull. Available in two options:

Full Hull Build Kit includes all of the parts and adhesives necessary to build a complete hull, except for the bow bumper which should be selected and ordered separately.

Hull Parts Only includes all of the printed parts, but will require you to source all of the fittings and adhesives to complete the hull.

Select the desired hull color from the listed options. Internal components and details can be printed in PLA of any color. Use the text box to customize as desired. Available colors can be viewed here. If no color is specified these parts will be printed in the same color as the hull.

This version of The Proteus is supplied with magnetic jib attachment hull as standard. A version with regular eyebolts is also available. Indicate this preference in the text box if desired.

About the Proteus

The Proteus is a recent development designed by Craig Richards in the UK. Launched in September 2025, the boat evolved rapidly and is in its fourth (and final) public version. The three latest versions are available as kits as each has its appeal. To understand the key differences between the Proteus versions, check the blog post in our articles section.

With a growing fleet, the Proteus has demonstrated its modern lines are very competitive, both in national and international events.

The Proteus concept, in line with the Alioth, seeks to make competitive IOM boats accessible to the home builder at a fraction of the cost (and time) of fibreglass yachts. Using standard 3D printing techniques (instead of the advanced vase mode used by the Alioth) allows the Proteus to incorporate much of the internal components in the hull printing process. This leads to an easier build, with fewer components and simpler steps.

Our complete build kits and step-by-step guides make building a competitive boat achievable even to the novice builder.
