Boom Drill Guide

Drill guide blocks for precisely drilling boom holes for Z hooks. Available for in multiple measurement options.

• Each block has holes a different spacing on each side. Option one has holes spaced at 5 mm and 4 mm. Option two has holes spaced at 2.5 mm and 3 mm

• Nylon thumb screw for solid positioning. Can be screwed from two sides for greater flexibility

• Printed in PLA which is a bioplastic but has low heat resistance. May warp if left in direct sunlight or hot environments such as a hot car.

Usage instructions

• Align the block to the boom using the reference notch. This is also useful to mark the boom for installation of other components.
• Position the boom block where desired to drill holes for a Z hook.
• Do not over tighten the nylon lock as it may deform the mast.
• Optionally two drill blocks, or a mast drill block may be used to allow movement of the boom drill block while maintaining reference. With one block set as reference, lay the boom and block on a flat surface and align the second block to same flat surface. With one block tightened, the other may be moved without losing alignment reference.
• Drill carefully with a 1.5mm drill. Be careful to keep the drill aligned not to widen the reference holes. If the tool is used carefully it may be used to drill multiple booms before needing replacement.
• If a larger hole is needed, drill a 1.5mm hole, remove the drill block and re-drill with a wider drill bit.
• For positioning the vang hole consider the reference hole is 5 mm from the edge of the block.

• Material: 3d printed in PLA which is a bioplastic with low melting point and becomes soft at 50°C.
