Sail Numbers 100 mm
Templates for sail marking numbers using permanent ink pens. Adheres to IRSA Supplementary Class Rules and MYA Supplementary Class Rules covering IOM, 10 Rater, A Class, Six Metre, Marblehead, Mini 40 and other classes. DF 95 sails may also use these templates but spacing between digits must be adjusted to the narrower spacing rules.
Our templates are custom built using Arial font to result in clean visible numbers that adhere to class regulations. Resulting numbers are 101 mm tall and spaced 20-30 mm depending on number pair.
Two options for the 1 digit are available to accommodate for personal preference. The vertical bar version is narrow and particularly useful to be added as a differentiator in case of number clashes at a regatta and should be in every sailor's kit. The full set includes both versions of the 1 digit.
Notches on the templates allow for precise number alignment and correct spacing according to class rules. Templates are 2mm thick and have beveled edges to avoid ink bleeding.
We recommend marking sails with ink instead of adhesive Dacron as ink will not impact shape or movement of sails. Ink is also easy to remove and retouch as sails are passed on to other sailors. Never use vinyl or other adhesives to mark sails as these may shrink and deform sails.
Use alcohol based permanent ink pens. We recommend Pentel N50 permanent markers. To remove ink based sail marking use acetone or isopropyl alcohol.
Tempaltes are printed in PLA. Colors will vary according to stock availability and are not selectable for our temoplates. PLA has low heat resistance and may warp if left in direct sunlight or hot environments such as a hot car.
