We ran destructive tests on bow sections produced from nine different materials and brands. Modern PLA with additives for increased impact resistance are the clear winners. PETG is unacceptable for thin hulls and will fail catastrophically under impact. ASA is being used as heat resistant alternative but presents lower layer adhesion and is more likely to fail on impact.
